OPEN STUDIO

STUDIO VISIT

The Open Studio aims to open the university's painting studio, creating a space for socializing and sharing students' artistic productions and reflections. Curated by Professor Dr. Jociele Lampert, the event presents works from the painting disciplines she teaches in the Visual Arts course at DAV-UDESC. In this context, the Open Studio transcends the idea of a conventional exhibition, transforming the studio into a dynamic environment for exchanges and questions focused on painting processes, experiments, and results experienced during a semester of weekly meetings. The event brings together works in different stages of development, whether completed or in process, experimental or in ongoing projects, allowing the public and the academic community to directly participate in the creative, discursive, and evaluation processes of the works.

Open Studio 2024.2

Open Studio values process and experimentation. Since it is not a fixed exhibition, it lasts only a few hours, with a specially activated set-up for that period. It functions as an open clinic of records, diaries, notebooks, processes and works. While some works are discussed collectively, others continue to flow within the curatorial process presented, which makes the studio a lively and dialogic environment. The proposal focuses on exhibiting not only the final products, but the artistic creation itself in its various phases and possibilities.

In contrast, the Studio Visit is a more targeted initiative that focuses on more advanced or completed works, ready to be critically analyzed. Unlike the experimental environment of the Open Studio, the Studio Visit presents a more targeted curation of the works and constitutes an opportunity for participants to present their research at a more mature stage, often organizing a set of works and records that encompass productions from different periods and series, evidencing more consolidated research within a technique or poetics. In the Studio Visit, participants and organizers invite a professor, critic, curator or other relevant professional in the field to discuss the works, offering a more in-depth and strategic reading. The objective is to assess the readiness of these works for exhibitions in museums, galleries or other curatorial projects, in addition to assisting in the organization of portfolios and developments of research and processes.

Studio Visit 2024.1

Although both are linked to the Aula Ateliê, the actions differ in their approaches. While the Open Studio prioritizes the process and experimentation, the Studio Visit offers a more critical and targeted analysis, focusing on the maturity of the works presented and their insertion in other spheres of the community and the artistic environment. Both events, however, share the same studio space and serve as essential moments of dialogue, development and reflection, expanding the possibilities of interaction between the artist and the community, whether academic or professional.
