In addition to translating and understanding the aforementioned references, the research proposes the construction of educational materials based on the exercises of Josef Albers (2009), Johannes Itten and other artist teachers who also encourage the development of teaching and learning methodologies. It also develops experimental practice research, which configures the teaching and learning process in the Visual Arts, in the context of teaching, research and This research focuses on the practice conceived in the painting studio of UDESC/DAV/PPGAV, and points to an approach to research based on Art or artistic practice, which proposes a transition between artistic practice and pedagogical practice, or even art as experience, intensified by the theoretical methodological configuration of John Dewey. The question is configured as: How can the painting studio be conceived as a space for artistic creation, at the same time, as a space for teaching and learning in Visual Arts? How can the studio become a place of studies?

AULA ATELIÊ

Aula Ateliê is part of the research project “The painting studio as a teaching and learning laboratory in Visual Arts”, developed by Professor Dr. Jociele Lampert at UDESC. The project is situated in the investigation of two categories: the painting studio and the teaching and learning laboratory.

The painting studio is a place where operational methodologies for pictorial production are developed, from both the artist's and the teacher's perspective. Time and space are articulated with the creative process. In addition to mapping methodologies, this category aims to map the production time itself in studies that permeate the History of Art, seeking to understand what a painting studio is, based on the reference “In the Studio: Painting”, by John Elderfield and Peter Galassi (2015).

In the Category that deals with the teaching and learning laboratory, the project seeks to understand the concept of Laboratory School, defended by John Dewey, a text published by Teachers College in 1997. In this way, the project's problem focuses on the articulation of the painting studio as a teaching and learning space.

PADLET

Since 2021, the Apotheke Painting Studio has been using the Padlet digital tool in teaching, research, and outreach activities. It has become not only a space for recording the work done by participants, but also a structure for thought and interaction. We use it in real time during online classes, as a record of documents and reference texts. In face-to-face teaching, it has become a work table for our digital studio, establishing an operational methodology that has been developed in our research and outreach projects: interaction and continuity, thus following art as experience and the assumptions of John Dewey.
